Erica Simon’s crayon portrait of a plaid shirt from her childhood featured such accurate warps and wefts that it confirmed she’d been traveling the artistic path since before she could even remember.

Erica received a Bachelor of Arts from the Division of the Arts at Reed College, transferring there from Wellesley College. She refined her design skills working post production on mulit-national corporate accounts in New York City’s advertising industry. From there, Erica launched her freelance career with a design focus on branding and a client focus on small brands, non-profits and the arts. Her love for branding reflects her high school love for geometry: solving an identity puzzle and placing relationships in context, shaping an organizational whole. Beyond the visual components of brand identity, she thrives in connecting the initial identity design to all elements of a company’s marketing strategy – she excels at creating visual language and energetic harmony across multiple channels. Her approach is intuitive; her execution is diligent. She attends to negative space, grounding elements and hierarchy of content, and strives to be a vessel for her client’s unique message.

Erica spent 12 semesters as a visiting professor in the Pratt Institute’s fashion department. She has led branding workshops and has been awarded enrollment into NYCEDC’s Design Entrepreneur program as well as invitation to Women’s Enterprise Action Loan Fund. She is also a member of AIGA.
